In related news, I saw a guy that had a t-shirt on today at Rubio’s that said, “God hates Westboro Baptist Church” written on the back. He said that I was the first Christian to get the joke…
It will be interesting to see which group claims ‘the victory’ on this one. The Westboro Baptists could say that they are being persecuted for living out an authentic voice for God. The rest of us could say that they are being punished for misrepresenting God…For me, I am just thankful that I am not God and that He somehow finds a way to love us all despite the ways we live and speak on His behalf.
I absolutely would have “got” that shirt…as in “got” the joke. I may have been tempted to “get” the shirt, but I’m not sure if I would have been any more help by wearing the shirt.
I’ve seen too many videos and articles regarding that church and its representatives. I cannot imagine how my reactions would be in person with them. They are absolutely unreasonable, and that angers me most. In my reactions with different “radicals” I end up more frustrated with inability to have a logical and reasonable conversation than the actual things they say and do.
