God speaking through Will Smith?

Yes…the Fresh Prince himself…I was looking around on the CBS channel on YouTube yesterday and came across this interview of Will Smith. He is in a new movie called the Pursuit of Happyness. You can see the trailer here. I don’t know when it will come out in France, but I really want to see it.

Anyway, in the course of the interview, while reflecting on what he learned playing his role, Will said this:

“Being realistic is the most commonly travelled road to mediocrity.”

Being the idealist that I am…this quote stuck out just a bit to me. I have all too often found myself living life by what is realistic (or seen) and not living in an unrealistic abandon to trust God. I think that a life following Jesus is one that pulls us out of mediocrity and into the extraordinary…but do we ever get too realistic to let God do the unrealistic in us? Do we trust that much?

This line has never made it into any DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince tracks, but it’s probably one the best he’s said.
