If you haven’t heard back from me…

So I am huge Mac fan…ever since the day I converted from PC to Mac I vowed that I would never not use a mac as my own computer again…and despite the last 24 hours’ circumstances I will stay true to this vow. Here’s what happened…

Around 8pm last night my computer started acting weird…the internet was running really strangely and some programs were acting up. This lasted for about 40 minutes until all of a sudden…the unthinkable happened…my mac froze. After having to shut it down manually (ouch) it would not reboot. It would try and try, but I think that the startup drive went south on me.

So after a series of tests and attempts to remedy the problem I was forced to go drop it off at my local ‘fake’ Mac Store. Some of the computer stores in Paris have the look of a Mac store, but there is no genius bar, no friendly service, no database of stored information so receipts aren’t necessary (I had to travel home to get my original receipt for my computer…good thing I shipped this across the sea a year and a half ago!)…Regardless, I left my digital baby with these people that I only sort of trust. I think that this is a good step for me for one day having to leave my real baby with a sitter, but just a bit different…

So if you haven’t heard back from me from an e-mail you sent me…please don’t take offense…my computer got sick and I just don’t have your address to reply! If you could write me back or resend your e-mail (condolences accepted) I would great appreciate it! Thanks and wish me luck on getting this fixed soon…they said it could be up to three weeks! NOOOOOOOO (trailing off into nothingness….)

  1. I feel your pain, compadre. Just recently had to leave my MBP at the shop here in BRX. Remarkably, they only needed 11 days to replace the entire motherboard. That may be the fastest single customer service related incident in the country to date. I got by on my old PC for the week and a half. It was tough, but I’m still here.

Sorry you have a fake Mac store. Nothing good about those.

  2. And I was just about to move all of Abundant LIfe over to MAC’s after the first of the year! Wow, thanks to your post – I’ll not make such a silly, short sighted mistake…

Besides…we like our PC’s because everytime we reboot them – we take a moment to pray for our missionaries….this makes sure that you are prayed for at least 7 or 8 times a day!!!!
