We got into Colorado on really late Wednesday night…Our flight was half an hour early and Jen’s sister Amy was late…she has just moved here so she didn’t really know how to get to the airport. Just by looking at the people at the airport I could tell that Colorado is a cool place. The people were like the earthy cool type of people and just seemed really laid back. Amy and Jason live in a cool little US-type-of-village called Roxborough and have a cool place.
On Friday night we went over to Hud and Nancy McWilliams’ place for a BBQ. I had heard Hud mention his BBQ skills before, but now I understand. Homemade BBQ sauce. Marinated steak that was begun at 8am. Chili. Amazing. I ate more than I thought was possible (probably shouldn’t be bragging about that). Oh I forgot…they made homemade ice cream too! One of the highlights for me was sitting in Hud’s ‘think tank’…his office. He has more books than some libraries. All organized by topic. He has a nice big desk (that he probably made) and I cool leather chair…I felt smarter sitting in it!
We hung out yesterday and I did some work for a little talk I’m doing tonight. Today we went to a church called Adullam. It was simple. The people were really nice. And they care about being on mission…This is the type of Church that I would want to serve with! We went out to lunch with the worship guy, Jason, who is a great guy and another family…of 8 people. The parents are Duane and Noel and they just seemed like real people that are on the journey. We had a really good time.
In a few minutes I am going to be heading to Mountainview Community Church to talk about how to make small groups missional. I am speaking with a guy named Carl who has done a ton of work in Beirut, Lebanon. I am looking forward to sharing a bit of my life with these people. My roommate from college…Joe Braun, has set this up.
As far as support stuff goes for this trip…I am really curious as to how God is going to surprise the next two weeks. We need to have quite a few more people join us to be set better with support. And we are hoping to have more people want to help us out with some bigger costs too! We know that God is going to take care of us and we looking forward to getting back to Europe to join our community there.
That’s it for now…pray for us and the rest of our time here…both for me and the things I am speaking at and also for our support stuff. Later!!!
How long are you going to be in CO? When will you be in the Denver area again? I’d love to try to catch up with you guys at some point, even if for a brief period of time. I’ll continuing praying for your efforts and provision. Thanks Justin for the update!
