Back in the USofA

So I am sitting in Rocklin California at It’s A Grind. We travelled nearly 24 straight hours to be here…well, not at It’s A Grind, but in California. I have to admit…it’s really strange to be here. I love the US, but I miss home already. The normal things are shocking: big cars, big people, big stores, big…big…big. The space here is amazing and I’ve really missed it. Living in Paris can be like living in the bottom of man made canyons and getting glances of the sky here and there. I like seeing the sky again!

We’ve already seen a lot of people and have had a lot of meaningful contacts. I’ve been to a theology group and played grass volleyball. At the theology ‘event’ I came to realize that I’m different since living abroad. The perspective that one can get while living abroad is really a blessing. It’s just that way that one sees the world differently when living in another culture is just different when living in the same culture your whole life. Enough of this.

We’ve had a good time seeing people from here that were a part of our past and the people that we’ve become. It is good to see where we came from and be back in a place where our marriage grew and was born. I used to do a lot of study at this coffee shop and it brings back so many memories….good memories.

The only thing that I’m concerned about regarding this trip is that there are so many people that we want and need to hang out with that we may not have enough time! We ran into our friend Amanda here and I’m really glad because these spontaneous times of running into people are cool and remind me of old times. We still have yet to see a lot people that we need to see, so we’ll try to fix that soon.

I’ve rambled long enough…I’m sure I’ll have more to say later…

I sounds like there’s lots of nostalgia going on, Justin. I’m glad you’re having this special time to reflect on your ministry contrasts. God is with you everywhere! I love you.
